May is National Mental Health Awareness Month

Considering the fact that approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experience mental illness in one year, and 1 in 5 youth aged 13-18 experiences a severe mental disorder at some point in their life, it is clear that mental illness is a prevalent disease that affects more people than one may think. These statistics also speak for themselves as to the importance of education and resources for both people who face mental illness, as well as those closest to them.

This is the month where many activities are taking place at local, state and federal levels with both in person and online events to learn more about mental illness.
